Sew Your Story: Reclaim Your Voice Through Fashion

Price range: $79.00 through $135.00

Bring a piece from your closet you’re ready to reclaim and spend the evening transforming it into something that feels like you again.

Sew Your Story is a hands-on upcycling experience led by Cafecito con Fashion + 1988., combining sewing, personalization, creativity, and self-expression through four interactive design stations:

  • DTF Transfer Station
  • Hand Embroidery + Appliqué

That piece sitting in the back of your closet?

The denim jacket you never reach for anymore. The sweatshirt that needs something. The jeans that could use a little personality.

Bring it with you.

Sew Your Story: Reclaim Your Voice Through Fashion is a creative evening designed for women who want to slow down, make something with their hands, connect with other women, and breathe new life into something they already own.

Hosted by Veronica of Cafecito con Fashion and Xenia of 1988., this hands-on experience combines sewing, upcycling, fashion, storytelling, and personal style.

Instead of following one identical project, you’ll move through a series of creative stations and decide how you want to transform your piece.

Your Creative Stations

DTF Transfer Station
Add statement graphics, messaging, and artwork using heat-applied DTF transfers curated by 1988.

Hand Embroidery + Appliqué
Learn beginner-friendly hand sewing and embroidery techniques while adding fabric, stitching, texture, and personalized details to your garment.

Garment Restyling Station
Explore creative ways to change the look and feel of your piece through cutting, reshaping, distressing, tying, layering, placement, and other design techniques.

Patch Bar
Choose from a collection of patches and decorative details to build your own placement and make your garment completely your own.

Throughout the evening, Veronica will be available to help you think through placement, construction, embroidery, appliqué, and garment transformation techniques.

Do I Need to Know How to Sew?

Not at all.

Event Details

Date: Saturday, October 10, 2026
Time: 5:00–8:00 PM
Location: The Nest, 25 S Van Brunt St, Englewood, NJ

Space is intentionally limited to keep the experience hands-on and allow time for individual guidance.

Please Note

Because every garment and design idea is different, the amount of customization completed during the workshop will vary from person to person.

This is a creative upcycling and personalization experience rather than a full garment reconstruction class. Some more detailed embroidery or design elements may be started during the workshop and completed at home.

We recommend arriving with a few inspiration ideas, but don’t worry if you’re not sure what you want to create — we’ll help you figure it out.

Come as you are. Bring something with a little history. Leave with something that feels like you again.

Reused. Reimagined. Owned.

Important Attendee Note

Please bring one clean garment or accessory to personalize during the workshop. We recommend denim, cotton, canvas, sweatshirts, T-shirts, button-down shirts, or similar pieces.

Avoid extremely delicate fabrics, heavily stretchy garments, leather, or items requiring major fit alterations or reconstruction.

Some garments will also be available for purchase from 1988. during the event.

Ticket Fine Print

Tickets are reserved per participant and workshop materials are prepared in advance. Tickets are non-refundable but may be transferred to another attendee if you are unable to attend.

Due to the creative nature of the workshop, individual projects and completion times will vary.
